Hello friends and gamers,

Capcom hosted a Monster Hunter Digital Event this morning regarding Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Monster Hunter Rise. Monster Hunter Producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, introduced the digital event, providing more insight into the June 9th release of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Free Title Update Ver.3.0 heading to the already available Monster Hunter Rise.

New Trailer

Ryozo showcased a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, revealing that a lot of Rathalos are vanishing, large pits are forming, and that a strange light forces monsters to go into a fit of rage. The main group of characters is afraid of what might happen to Ratha, their close Rathalos companion, and alludes to the idea that you can choose which path Ratha takes.

Another nice reveal in the trailer was the presence of a Frostfang Barioth as a Battle Buddy ally party member. A momentary switch to combat gameplay showed the Frostfang’s rider, Avinia, playing a melody from her hunting horn, so that was exciting! The trailer also reveals Diablos, Astalos, and Nergigante, though these monsters appear to be more menacing threats!

Game Features Revealed

The Rite of Channeling is the Monster Hunter term for transferring genes between Monsties. Each monster will have a variety of genes, the main two reflecting on their element and their attack type. Align three genes of the same element or attack type to receive a Bingo bonus which grants your Monstie even more power! Grant a Lagombi access to fireballs or let the Anjanath be the hottest fire-breathing dinosaur on the planet, gene splicing is completely up to you for what you want your Monsties to be!

Pre-order bonuses are available before the June 9th release for the Nintendo Switch. The Deluxe Edition includes the Kuan Coat Outfit for Ena, Razewing Layered Armor set for the Player, Adventure Buddies 2 and 3 Sticker Sets, Spiky Nergal Hairstyle for the Player, and two Outfits for Navirou: Pukei-pukei Costume and Nergigante Costume.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Love the aesthetic visuals from the Monster Hunter series but not sure which game you should try first? Monster Hunter World is definitely the easiest of the series to jump into now that Capcom provided super awesome Defender equipment set to boost you through the lower levels. Monster Hunter World has days of content to explore (I have over 430 hours played, I should know) and it’s all totally worth it!

Free Title Update Ver.3.0 Trailer

Ryozo showcased a brand new trailer for the Free Title Update Ver.3.0 coming May 27th to Monster Hunter Rise, and let me tell you, fans of the Monster Hunter series will love getting carted by these revealed monsters!

Monster Hunter Rise Adds Crimson Glow Valstrax

Crimson Glow Vlastrax

Previous Monster Hunter fans will know Crimson Glow Valstrax, the flagship monster for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Valstrax is an elder dragon that soars at very high altitudes and flaunts its flaming red wings. Those wings aren’t just for flying, though, and are easily used to stab, rend and blow away its enemies. Crimson Glow Valstrax will be a difficult challenge to overcome! Who am I kidding, you’re a Monster Hunter Elite. You’ll be fine!

Monster Hunter Rise Adds Apex (Thunderlord) Zinogre

Apex Zinogre Thunderlord Zinogre

Thunderlord Zinogre is a deviant of the original Zinogre. It crackles with green electricity, which turns to a golden color when it enters its “Ultracharged” state. Appearance-wise, the Apex Zinogre looks exactly like the Thunderlord Zinogre, with the exception of barely visible red veins on the belly and limbs of the skin. Apex Zinogre will be a standard quest along with Apex Rathalos and Apex Diablos when the update arrives.

New Ending & Extras

Serpent Gods Ibushi and Narwa

The Monster Hunter Rise Ver.3.0 trailer revealed a preview of a new ending, which hints toward a new secret boss monster when the Serpent Gods, Ibushi and Narwa, fatefully meet. Added story elements were listed: new monsters in Hub quests, new monsters in Rampage quests, new weapon trees, armor trees, layered armor, items, skills, Rampage Skills, and appearance options for Rampage weapons! A new DLC bundle called “Monster Hunter Rise DLC Pack 3” will be available on the same day as the update, which includes: hunter voices, poses, stickers, face paints, hairstyles, Cohoot outfits, and background music.

Roadmap

Mid-June will feature a Capcom Collab allowing your Palico in Monster Hunter Rise to equip the Tsukino Costume Layered Armor set when completing a special event quest within the timeframe. Capcom plans to release more DLC and Event Quests in the following months with an emphasis on Capcom Collabs in July and August.
