IO Interactive, the developer behind the popular game series, Hitman, revealed more exciting news for Year 2 of Hitman 3. The trilogy has surmounted an amazing milestone for 50 million players. This means Hitman 3 has been their most successful Hitman game of all time! Pretty crazy. Large updates will be implemented throughout the year like support for PC VR and ray tracing on PC. A new map is being created with the codename Rocky. Two new game modes will be available: Elusive Target Arcade and Freelancer. In addition, the Hitman Trilogy also comes to Xbox Game Pass on January 20th, 2022! Hitman Trilogy features all 3 iconic titles from the World of Assassination. This includes Hitman 1, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, and (hopefully) all existing DLC content up to this point.
Here is a brief summary if you are new to the game series or haven’t heard of the Hitman universe before: Hitman is an action/adventure video game series, most notably associated for its stealth gameplay. Players control a genetically enhanced assassin, the infamous Agent 47. He is most often depicted as bald with a barcode tattooed on the back of his head. Agent 47, being the best in the biz, travels the globe and performs a spectacle of finding different ways to assassinate a target. So, what are the new modes coming this year to Hitman 3?
Elusive Target Arcade elevates the previous Elusive Target mode by including tasks to take down specific targets one by one, one right after another. Apparently, failing an arcade contract at any point will lock the player from retrying for 12 whole hours. The good news is the arcade contracts never expire so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to perfect your mission. The Arcade will open with a total of 3 Arcade Contracts, each one featuring targets from all 3 games in the World of Assassination trilogy. More arcade contracts will be made available as part of the 12 month content updates. IO Interactive has also expressed appreciation and excitement for fans. Now let’s talk about the Freelancer mode.
IO Interactive states, “Freelancer is a brand new, single-player mode coming to HITMAN 3 that introduces roguelike elements, strategic planning and a customisable safehouse.” Honestly, reading up on the details of this mode sounds like a really fun time! Agent 47 will have no support from his ICA buddies as a freelancer. It’s time to freelance *crack knuckles.* There will be a main mission hub to view all available Freelancer campaigns. Each campaign will be associated with the top brass of criminal organizations across the world. Play them in any order at your own discretion. No matter which one you start, they will all take you through a series of different locations around the globe.
You also have to be careful about your equipment. Imagine, you find a pool noodle and just couldn’t resist. You take out the target, finish the mission, head home on a job well done… Oh no, you forgot to go back and pickup your favorite weapon. Sad to say, you’ll lose that weapon—forever! It’s gone, zip, nada, adios pal! Don’t fret too much though, you can restock inventory or purchase another weapon from Suppliers.
I have been out of the loop with the new Hitman series. The main reason is because of the first Hitman reboot. They tried to do that weird episodic nonsense haha. I think I’m ready to jump back in to the Hitman Trilogy since it’s heading to Xbox Game Pass! I hope you are just as excited! Interested in even more details about the new content?
