The Wolf Among Us season 2 was revealed on Feb. 9th, 2022 with a full trailer featuring the man himself, Bigby Wolf! Friends and gamers, my heart is on fire! I have waited a very long time since the first video game, The Wolf Among Us. Telltale Games released the first episode of The Wolf Among Us in October 2013, and now we are finally getting a season 2. It was the beginning of a 5 episode adventure video game based on the award-winning Fables comic book series by Bill Willingham.

Telltale Games Shutdown

Sadly, Telltale Games shut down in 2018. The news instantly severed a lot of hope for their employees and fans. Since a lot of time has passed since then, I read reports about what occurred at Telltale Games. Alleged statements from former employees talked about hours of crunch (overtime without pay). Any laid off employee only had 30 minutes to leave the premises once notified. Many alleged responses also refer to employee reports of employer abuse.

Telltale Games Revival

No matter what actually happened, the events that led to the shutdown are truly sad. Telltale Games adapted many popular franchises into incredible storytelling adventures. The Walking Dead, The Batman, and Tales from the Borderlands are just a few of them. Skybound Games bought out the license for The Walking Dead. LCG Entertainment acquired most assets from Telltale Games and revamped the gaming studio. Thankfully, for long-awaiting fans, that means The Wolf Among Us season 2 is set to bring Bigby Wolf back to investigating in 2023!

The Wolf Among Us

What’s so great about the first The Wolf Among Us? My little cookies, I know I said this earlier. But let me say it louder for the peeps in the back. We get to play a thrilling detective adventure as THE wolf! Like the big bad wolf from the little red riding hood, wolf. Sheriff Bigby of Fabletown (I know, right?) reporting for duty as The Wolf Among Us. Investigate a string of mysterious murders in Fabletown. Criminals beware of the wolf lurking beneath the skin.

How are we introduced to Mr. Bigby in The Wolf Among Us? Well, I really want to believe Telltale Games took direct inspiration from Heavy Rain. Both video games introduce their detective character in the same exact way. They just can’t help but to walk into a straight up brawl fest. How, you may ask. Because a dude was hollering and slapping around a woman.

Bigby Wolf Introduction

Who is the brave gentleman that dares fight the mighty wolf? Funny you should ask. The wood chopping man himself, Woody the lumberjack lol! Woody even quips about what happened last time. Bigby says, “This ain’t last time.” Both male characters are obviously resilient to a lot of physical damage. The fight takes a few minutes with the apartment being torn to shreds. In a wrestling grip, they both fling each other out the second story window.

The Wolf Among Us is freaking awesome. It’s so fun to play AND watch. If you have played other Telltale Games before, you’ll know about replay value. There are always multiple choices for dialogue and animation sequences that affect the story. Your choices are impactful. They may directly or indirectly affect the life or death of a character later in the episodes.

Seriously, if the first sequence of The Wolf Among Us sounds cool, I recommend trying it. You could also watch a YouTube playthrough but the choices weigh heavier on your heart when you are the one in the gamer seat. I love this game with a passion though. Definitely in my top 10 video games of all time. Absolutely can’t wait to take control of Bigby once again in season 2 of The Wolf Among Us!
